Office hours give students time to catch up on their classes and get work done. But are students really gaining anything or catching up in reality? Students at Eleanor Roosevelt share their experiences on it.
I think that office hours are useful to me because they allow me to avoid coming after school for things such as retaking tests or redoing assignments. Instead, you can just come to the office hours and do the work that you need to. Also, I think that it saves time for yourself. Instead of emailing your teacher to retake a quiz after school, you could just come by during office hours to do it.
Office hours provide you with the time, environment, and guidance to help you complete your work. Office hours eliminate excuses for students as well by giving students opportunity to see their teacher if they have questions about their grade, and also provides the time to get done what you need to.
I interviewed Jordin Walker a senior here at Roosevelt, “I really like them because I’m in sports, so I get to make up tests in them.” Walker expressed how office hours are useful to her as a student athlete here at Roosevelt.
Another senior I interviewed agreed with Jordin, Bella Pena shares, “I personally think that office hours are a great opportunity to catch up on the things you are missing and ask for help,” Pena states.
Lorelei Ramirez another senior here states, “I personally think that they are really good because it’s an opportunity to get stuff done in other classes that I have a lot of work in,” Ramirez shares.
Kamiliah Quezada a freshman said, “I think that they are helpful in case you have assignments missing from your class,” Quezada states.
Based on what I was hearing from the students around ERHS, office hours truly helps the students around ERHS. They keep them on track with their work, give students opportunities to make up for anything that they need to,

and talk to their teachers about anything concerning them.
