K-pop is a genre of music originating from South Korea. Due to it being largely popular out of anything related to Korea, it is considered to be the essence and basis of the Korean culture that we see today. The process of K-pop gaining this large popularity happened so drastically that it has brought different opinions about it.

Taylor Wong, a student who listens to K-pop frequently, believes that K-pop is lovely and that is one of the best.
“K-pop is one of the best music genres I know,” Taylor said. “Their music videos and choreography are satisfying to watch as well.”
Meanwhile, Jennifer Le, a student who listens to various genre of music, believes that K-pop is overrated and too similar.
“K-pop market is kind of over saturated,” Jennifer said. “Although it sounds good, a lot of groups have the same music formula, it sounds all the same.”
It is clear that there is a contrasting opinion on the current state of K-pop. And both sides of the opinions can be easily understood.
K-pop is usually fast-paced and exciting with intense beats, which attracts many listeners. It draws attention by default just with the song’s energy itself, accompanied by dances by the singer. This makes K-pop highly likable for young people, such as students, due to its energetic nature.
Although K-pop is exciting, it is very repetitive due to it being produced usually from one of the big major companies. Since companies would like to make as much profit as possible per song, they tend to make songs based on the musical trend in the world in order to win the competition, making catchy but similar songs. Therefore, it is understandable that K-pop sounds repetitive due to it being a commercial business.
There are both positive and negative comments about K-pop songs, but it is undeniable that they are one of the biggest trends around the world today with huge popularity internationally.
