If you’ve ever asked your parents which child is their favorite they’ll probably say they don’t have one. Well, we are gonna find out if parents really do have a favorite. Lets see if the youngest, oldest, or middle children are more typically favorites.
If we are trying to see which child is the favorite, we have to add in some factors. Some factors are gender, age gaps, attitude, personality, and many other factors that go into it. Typically, the youngest children are considered favorites because of their cute looks and their younger type of personality. Obviously it depends on the family and the kids.
The factors do play a role in this though. Gender also plays a role but that is mainly based on the parents preference. Personality plays a role as well because of stubbornness, kindness, and many other things like that.
Lets talk about which is more typically the least favorite. Middle children are usually the least favorites. Middle children are just in the middle. There is nothing that makes them truly stand out compared to the youngest and oldest.

Khloe Tran, a student in the district has two siblings and believes that her parents play favorites. Tran said, “I believe the youngest child would be the most favored. Coming from me, I have 2 siblings and my brother is the youngest. Since he is the baby of the family he tends to get treated like one still.”
Sabrina Preciado, a student in the district, has 2 siblings and also has an opinion on which sibling is the favorite. Preciado said, “I would say the favorite child is the youngest sibling because I think that they get away with a lot more just because they’re younger.”
Tran also has an opinion on which child would be the least favorite. Tran said, “I think the middle child would be the least favorite child. This is only based on my experience, being a middle child, but it’s hard to label myself because I’m not the youngest or the oldest.”
However, Preciado believes that the oldest is the least favorite. Preciado said, “I feel like the least favorite child is the oldest because they’re more pressured to be a role model and they have higher standards.”
Least favorite and favorite children really depend on the household, family, and situation. It really can’t be determined for every family. And some parents may not actually have a favorite. It really depends on each individual family.
