Space exploration was a huge step for us as a society when it first happened. The first satellite that was sent into space was on October 4th 1957. The first satellite was named Sputnik and it was a very big deal. To this day we are still exploring space and we never know what we can find.

There are many pros and cons of space exploration and it is a very controversial topic of whether or not we humans should be exploring it.

Lets talk about the pros. One good thing is that we can explore other planets and we never know what we could find. The search in outer space could lead us to find other life outside of our planet. One big thing that space exploration can help with is finding places where we can have civilization outside of earth. This can be scary but also exciting.

Even though the pros make space seem fun and harmless, there are a lot of dangers so here are some cons. There are a lot of hazards that come when going to space. There are 5 main hazards. The 5 hazards are space radiation, isolation and confinement, distance from earth, gravity, and closed and hostile environments. There are many dangers when sending people up to space and past trials have proven this.

Space exploration is very controversial because of all the dangers but there are also a lot of opportunities. Many people have different opinions on this.

Alex Zhou, a student in the district believes that space exploration should be stopped. Zhou said, “I believe we should not explore outer space or other planets because it would cost a lot of money and time,. Instead we should explore our own planet. For example, the ocean.”

Camilla Aleman, a student in the district believes that space exploration is good and we should keep exploring it. Aleman said, “I personally believe we should keep exploring our space and other planets because we might find different civilizations and the different climates and traits about planets. I think we will get to a point where we will have civilization on another planet because our technology has developed so much throughout the years.”

If we keep exploring space there are so many possibilities, even endless possibilities of what we could find. With our universe being so large, we will never truly know what we could find out there. With all of our technology, we could have civilization on another planet sooner than we think if we keep exploring outside of earth.
