We had spirit week, and it had a fun theme of Neverland. On Monday, students wore school colors: freshmen wore white, sophomores wore orange, Juniors wore blue, and seniors wore black. On Tuesday, students dressed up like the 2000s, though I did not see anyone dress up like it was the 2000s, except for ASB. Wednesday was not to wear something but to write something nice; if you did, you got a pixie stick. Thursday, I wore tropical and pool attire, which one of my friends did, and on Friday, I did an egg hunt during both lunches.
In an interview with the ASB teacher Denna Yakubovsky, I asked her why she wanted to do the Spirit Week Neverland theme and why she did these different activities for Spirit Week. She said,
¨Well, the students at Roosevelt High School, and they try to do fun things and engaging, and I think for this one, it was nostalgic; it’s something that is a memorable from there childhood and we thought that it would be fun and fit well with the theme of the prom, which is enchanted garden.” She explains, “And it would be an exciting way to lead up to the prom. It is also royalty campaigning week so we tried to find fun ways to highlight people that are running for prom royalty. We also wanted to make it engaging, its spring time the weather is warmer, we want to try to have as many as many students on our campus be able to participate and engage in spirit and be proud of their school.” Yakubovsky says.
In another interview with our principal, Jennifer Montgomery, I asked her what she thought of spirit week. She said:
¨I think the spirit week this week was fun, and I love the theme of Peter Pan. And it was fun to have the beginning of Monday the rally after coming from spring break and seeing all of that and the dress-up days and the pixie dust. All of it was great!”
Well, I think spirit week was fun, and I enjoyed it. That concludes my story thanks for reading and see you in the next bye. 🙂 (Here are some from pictures this week.)
