Eleanor Roosevelt High School, hailing from Eastvale California, concluded their 2024-2025 basketball season with an impressive 36-3 overall record, including a 7-0 mark in the league, underscoring their dominance in the big VIII conferences.
The team’s success was mainly propelled by senior guard Brayden Burries, who averaged 29.7 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. His remarkable performances earned him the California Gatorade Player of the Year award and a spot as a finalist for the National Player of the Year. Burries’ leadership on and off the court was instrumental in the Mustang’s achievements.
Another key contributor was senior point guard Myles Walker who led the team with 6.9 assists and 3.9 steals per game, showcasing his playmaking abilities and defensive prowess. The Mustang’s postseason journey was marked by several thrilling victories in the Southern section open division playoffs, they edged out Sierra Canyon with a 65-64 win, highlighted by Burries’ clutch free throws in the final seconds.
They continued their momentum by defeating Notre Dame 79-76 in the regional finals with Burries contributing 37 points. came in the CIF open division state championship game, where they secured an 80-60 victory over Archbishop Riordan. Burries delivered a record-tying performance with 44 points and 12 rebounds, cementing his legacy in California high school basketball.
Under the guidance of Coach Stephan Singleton, the Mustangs demonstrated resistance, teamwork, and a commitment to excellence, solidifying their status as one of California’s premier High school basketball programs. The season was marked by several notable victories such as Southern Section Open Division Playoffs, regional finals, and CIF Open Division State Championship. The team’s achievements garnered significant attention, with their games drawing substantial crowds and media coverage. Their success has solidified ERHS’s reputation as a powerhouse in California high school basketball.
