Love him or hate him, Bad Bunny has an undeniable talent for creating music. His 2025 release, “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS” is a reggaeton album meant to celebrate the roots and island that made Bad Bunny the artist he is today. It seems to be focused on a return to the music and energy present in his music before the controversy behind 2023 “nadie sabe lo que va a pasar mañana.” It is a welcome new addition to Bad Bunny’s discography and is worth a listen for fans of Latin music.
“I usually don’t like Bad Bunny albums,” said Alberto Flores, a student at ERHS. “But this one was really good.”
With the production of the album, it is clear that Bad Bunny desired a mix of traditional reggaeton elements and heavy electronic bass. The album opener, “NUEVAYoL” is a perfect example of the variety of sounds on the album, starting with a classic instrumental sample, before transitioning into a high-energy percussion beat. The mixing of traditional instrumental with electronic elements continues onto “BAILE INoLVIDABLE,” where trumpets are mixed with a sort of synth-layering, then going back to traditional instrumentals for the rest of the song, occasionally featuring a chorus in the background helping to complete the soundscape. We even get a slower, more strings-based ballad with “TURiSTA.” The track that feels the most familiar to other songs we’ve seen on other albums is without a doubt “DtMF,” a fun, upbeat produced track with a more tragic backstory in the lyrics.
Even if most people are too busy enjoying the booming percussion and trumpets of the album to listen to the lyrics, there is more substance there than people usually expect. “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS” is a love letter to Puerto Rico, and an attempt to forget a love. “Debí tirar más fotos” roughly translated means “I should throw away more pictures,” implying an attempt to erase the memory of someone from his life. “BAILE INoLIDABLE” shows Bad Bunny lamenting the loss of this love, speaking on the profound effect that this person made on him, and continues to have despite them being gone. The chorus chants “No, no I can’t forget you,” even saying “you showed me to love, you showed me to dance.” “TURiSTA” has Bad Bunny calling this person a “tourist” in his life, speaking to the fleeting love that came and went. Despite it’s upbeat production, “DtMF” is an extension of the attempts to erase this love from his mind, the memory of this love staying stuck in his mind. It follows a pattern of Bad Bunny creating a song that has an upbeat sound, but hides a set of heartbroken lyrics. Some songs that have similar styles are “Me Fui de Vacaciones” from 2022 “Un Verano Sin Ti” and “Si Veo a Tu Mamá” from 2020 “YHLQMDLG.”
“I thought it was a bit weak through the middle,” shared Flores. “But the ending was very good. I’d give it an 8 and a half out of 10.”
Bad Bunny continues to make music on his own terms, trying to innovate and craft new experiences with each installment. “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS” is without a doubt, a new classic of the reggaeton genre. It’s blending of traditional and electronic instrumental makes for a unique listening experience, and the heartbreak-inspired lyrics are sure to resonate with listeners. This album will hopefully be remembered among the other classics he has already created.
