Peppa Pig, the beloved animated piglet adored by young audiences worldwide, is set to become a big sister for another time. A new addition to the Pig family is expected to arrive this June.
The exciting announcement was first made during a segment on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, where Mummy Pig revealed the news of her pregnancy. She describes her excitement for the upcoming baby, although also admits feeling overwhelmed when she faces the fact that she will have to care for three children, all under five years old.
Although the gender of this oncoming piglet is not yet revealed, many fans have their speculations about it. Instagram user @notdxxtyafr_ says, “I’m calling it, it has to be twins, one boy, and one girl.”

However, it appears that some fans might be upset about the idea of a new member joining in on the family dynamic.
Instagram user @tcckai says, “THERE IS STILL TIME TO ABORT!!”
Since Mummy Pig is due in June, then she is likely around three months pregnant at the time of the announcement. Under UK abortion laws, she would still be within the legal time frame to get an abortion, as the procedure is allowed up to 24 weeks (about six months). However, after 24 weeks, it is only permitted under exceptional circumstances, such as severe fetal abnormalities or risks to the mother’s life.
However, based on her excitement in the announcement, it doesn’t seem like she’s considering that option.
In reality, pigs have a much shorter pregnancy than humans—about 3 months, 3 weeks, and 3 days (around 114 days ). If the Peppa Pig universe had followed real-world biology, Mummy Pig would have already given birth by now.
However, since Peppa Pig exists in a cartoon universe where time is essentially frozen (Peppa has been 4 years old for 20 years), Mummy Pig’s pregnancy is being stretched to match a human timeline for storytelling purposes.
While fans worldwide celebrate Peppa Pig’s new sibling, some question the paternity.
A few fans speculate that Daddy Pig may not be the father, pointing to his lack of presence in the original announcement. Some joke that Mr. Bull, Mr. Zebra, or another Peppatown resident could be the real father. Maybe the father doesn’t even need to be from Peppatown.
When faced with Mummy Pig’s pregnancy, YouTube user @BungoStrayDogsFanCertified says, “We should all blame Duolingo. He probably disappeared and faked his death for a reason?”
Of course, such claims remain pure speculation—after all, Peppa Pig is a family-friendly show. For now, Daddy Pig stays by Mummy Pig’s side, not bothered by the rumors.
