When girls are on their periods, they should not have to worry about having enough money to buy the menstrual products they need. Every girl (except for special cases), gets their period, which is also known as menstruation. Typically, it comes once a month for 5-7 days.
When a girl is on her period, they have to use menstrual products. There are many different types of menstrual products. There are pads, tampons, menstrual cups, and more. The most commonly used products are pads and tampons. These products all cost money, which is an unnecessary amount. The average for these products have doubled over the past 5 years. Every girl is forced to have periods, which means they should also not be forced to buy the products for it.

Many women around the world do not have the money to go buy a box of tampons or a pack of pads every month. Some girls need to purchase products more frequently than others, and some buy products less frequently. It all depends on the girl and their body. This is a problem because girls should not have to go out and purchase more products just because their period is worse than others.
Most schools have access to free menstrual products, which is very helpful to students. Eleanor Roosevelt has free products in many places around the school. More than half of the states in the United States are requiring schools to provide free menstrual products to their students in 6-12 grade
Not everyone agrees with my opinion on menstrual products. Victoria Villasenor, a freshman at Eleanor Roosevelt High School, disagrees with my opinion. Villasenor said, “I think menstrual products should not be free because it helps boost the economy. If they were free, it would increase the money that taxpayers have to pay, which means technically the same as buying them yourself.” She later said, “Instead of making menstrual products free, I think a tax on them should be lowered or have no tax on menstrual products.
However, Keira Maar agrees with my opinion that the products should be free. Maar Stated, “They should be free because periods are uncontrollable and we need them.”
As of right now, the products still cost a lot of money in stores, but over time, I believe that they will start offering more free products to women in different places.
