On Monday morning, employees from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) entered work and were greeted by all electronic screens playing an AI generated video of president Donald Trump wildly kissing at billionaire Elon Musk’s feet. From what is known, the video is believed to only have been looped for five minutes before being turned off. Despite being played for such a short amount of time, the stunt has left a huge impact on people of all political beliefs.
When government workers entered their office building and were confronted with the video, they were reasonably upset, unamused, and disgusted. HUD spokesperson Kasey Lovett went as far as to write a statement to various news sources, such as The Independent, in which she referred to the stunt as “Another waste of taxpayer dollars and resources”. However, one anonymous source explains they didn’t mind the prank to much. According to MSNBC, the fearful, unspecified speaker saw the video “As a sign of resistance that has brought a lot of joy.”
As for the detested worker witnesses, matters only got worse when they couldn’t find out how to turn the video off, leading them to resort to scurrying around the building to unplug the affected TVs. NY Post says some time after the unplugging, HUD officials were able to control their screens again, and used it to display information about “Trump’s achievements thus far in his second term”. This action was likely protocol or meant to calm building inhabitants and make them think of better things, rather than how the potential reason for the retaliation was meant to mock Musk and Trump, especially after the news about Elon’s purposeful DOGE layoffs.
In the short time that Trump has been in office, he and his pal Elon Musk have both made a number of questionable decisions that have enraged US citizens. Today, we see a great example of an enraged citizen, or citizens, being driven to the point of a silly riot that isn’t too dramatic. This humorous stunt highlights the comical parts of Trump and Elon’s friendship while also having you keep the duo’s control over the US government in mind. This small riot is the perfect combination of comedy and awareness, making it more informational than it may seem to the naked eye.
