The energy in the arena of the game Lakers vs the Jazz was electric.
Lakers fans were eager for their team against the Utah Jazz but the biggest story of the night was the debut of player Luka Doncic in the yellow and purple. Expectations were sky-high after a blockbuster trade bringing a Slovenian superstar to Los Angeles.
From the opening tip, The Lakers set the tone. Lebron James still playing like the man in his prime drove to the basket on the first possession, drawing a foul and sinking both free throws. Moments later Doncic dazzled the crowd with a step back three hitting his first points with the Lakers. However, Utah struggled to find a rhythm.
Anthony Davis dominated the paint swatting shots and grabbing rebounds with ease. Meanwhile, D’Angelo Russel orchestrated the offense feeding Doncic and Lebron for easy buckets. By halftime, the Lakers were up by 25 and Doncic had already racked up 22 points and 8 assists.
The second half was more of the same. Jazz led by Lauri Markkanen and Jordan Clarkson tried to fight back but the Laker’s firepower was too much. Doncic continued his clinic threading pinpoint passes and knocking down shots. A thunderous alley-oop from Lebron and AD stole the deal sending the crowd into a frenzy.
By the final buzzer of the game, the scoreboard read Lakers 132 and Jazz 98. Doncic finished the game with 33 points 11 assists and seven rebounds a debut of all ages. As he left the court fans chanted his name knowing they just witnessed the beginning of something very special.
This is what basketball lovers had to say about this game. Mason Torres said, “This game was history! Doncic played so good.”
This is what Adam Dominguez had to say about this game, “This was a good game the Lakers made a great decision trading Doncic to be on the Lakers. He is gonna dominate this season.”
