Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of an old classic, Snow White, has sparked significant fan reactions that encompass criticism and support.
Fans have been discussing the casting of Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen. The internet has been taken by storm with Zegler’s portrayal of Snow White which aims to show Snow White as a more empowered character, diverging from the traditional depictions.

“I think the actress should’ve been someone with a closer background and appearance as the actual Snow White from the traditional movies. I’m excited to see how the movie does end up though,” says Rachel Cong, a senior at ERHS.
Zegler has expressed that she thought Snow White should be more focused on being a character that dreams about being the leader she believes she can be rather than focusing solely on romantic themes.
This reinterpretation has drawn mixed reactions from fans with some appreciating the modernized approach while others feel it deviates too far from the original character.
Critics argue that the changes made in the live-action may overshadow the classic elements that define Snow White’s story.
Sofia Billups, a senior at ERHS, commented that “[I] thinks they failed to consider public opinion with some of their choices.”
The portrayal of the Seven Dwarfs has also been a point of contention on the internet. Disney has announced a reimagined approach after consulting with members of the dwarfism community to avoid reinforcing stereotypes in response to Peter Dinklage’s criticism of the original depiction.
However, this decision has not been globally well-received by fans with some fans feeling that the changes were overly politically correct.
This could potentially diminish the roles of actors with dwarfism.
However public statements by the cast have further fueled controversy. Zegler’s comments on political issues have led to backlash from numerous groups.

In November of 2024, she faced criticism for expressing disappointment over Donald Trump’s re-election, with some supporters calling for a boycott of the film.
Similarly, Gadot’s support for Israel during the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has also led to calls for boycotting the film by pro-Palestinian groups, while pro-Israel supporters have critiqued her casting as the Evil Queen.
In summary, the live-action Snow White adaptation has elicited a range of emotions from fans, each one with their expectations of the contents released in March 2025.
The film’s release is anticipated to continue generating discussion and debate amongst audiences.
