“Alien Stage” is an ongoing animation series by VIVINOS and QMENG, produced by STUDIO LICO, and is available to watch on YouTube. It has garnered a large fanbase with its intriguing story, art, and music. The story is set in a dystopian universe where aliens essentially colonize Earth and use humans as pets. As entertainment for aliens, human contestants must sing for their survival, and the loser is executed on stage.
One of the biggest factors that drew me into “Alien Stage” is how the series reveals the character’s motivations and personalities. The plot is presented through contest rounds, where the main characters sing as the viewer can deduce the character’s goals and aspirations.
Another interesting factor is how the series also provides as a commentary for idol culture and human impact on the environment. The aliens worshipping the humans’ stage persona is representative of how fans will idolize their favorite celebrities. The dynamic between humans and aliens is also symbolic for how animals are treated by humans today.
The story currently mainly follows the five main characters: Mizi, Sua, Till, Ivan, and Luka. They are all young adults who try to make their way through the singing competition to survive. However, as the competition continues, a woman named Hyuna begins to involve herself in the competition and rebels against the aliens.

Jenna Liu says, “I like [the song] ‘Cure,’ it makes me sad.”
“It has a lot of emotion, and I enjoy the lyrics a lot. The animation is also gorgeous too. I also liked ‘Ruler of My Heart’ and Hyuna’s song ‘All-In.'”
Even though there is not much dialogue between the characters, “Alien Stage” is still able to portray the characters’ dynamics and interactions compellingly. The relationships between the characters are primarily established through song lyrics and the animation. However, there is extra content of the characters available on VIVINOS’s other social media accounts, such as X and Instagram.
Koda Carrasco says, “I think people should watch ‘Alien Stage’ because it’s always good to support artists and their creations.”
“The animation and songs are amazing and the way they portray the aliens in the show is really interesting.”
Since “Alien Stage” has so much symbolism and implications, viewers are able to interpret the series in their own way. Many fans have spread their theories and analyses online, which has built a large public interest in the series. I particularly appreciate the way that the series has a lot of flexibility in its themes and intentions. I would recommend to watch this series for anyone who likes to have their own headcanons for their favorite media.
