Two years ago, Dana Terrace made animation history with the final season of “The Owl House.” With its lovable characters, stunning visuals, engaging plotline, and emphasis on diversity and inclusion, the show became an iconic series for children and teenagers alike.
The conclusion of “The Owl House” has left fans eager to see more of Terrace’s works—and they’ve finally gotten their wish.
Dana Terrace has recently announced a new project with Glitch Productions, a show called “Knights of Guinevere.”
Although not much is known about Terrace’s new series, the teaser sets the stage for a compelling storyline. It features a blue, bride-like protagonist in a forest surrounded by animals. At first glance, it almost resembles “Snow White” or “Sleeping Beauty.” The animals talk amongst themselves, whispering, “She’s dreaming.” This blissful moment abruptly transitions to a horror-like state. A robotic-type creature lies restrained in a lab, and the doctors panic, yelling that she’s waking up. The creature begins to writhe and scream, spouting blue blood all over the lab, her right arm replaced by a tentacle. The teaser then cuts back to the fantasy, dream-like state.
Despite only being 41 seconds long, the teaser has fans enthusiastic for Terrace’s new show.
“I enjoy the indie animation and how fresh it looks,” said Aleah Avila, a long-time fan of “The Owl House” and Glitch productions, “I’m mainly confused on the whole robot sci-fi thing, but it looks cool.”
Finn Fernandez, another animation and “Owl House” lover remarked, “I think it’s amazing. The art style and just overall animation looks very pretty.”
Although Terrace worked with Disney to produce “The Owl House,” it’s safe to say she’s officially breaking away from them. “Knights of Guinevere” will most likely include darker and more complex themes than “The Owl House.” Although there’s something nostalgic about Disney, it’ll be exciting to see what Terrace can do without their creative limitations.
Glitch Productions, the organization Terrace is collaborating with, is an Australian animation company known for its unique animation style, character prose, and vibrant colors. Some of their most popular shows include “The Amazing Digital Circus,” “Murder Drones,” and “Meta Runner.”
“With their style and animation, they usually go for 3D so it’s really interesting to see them use 2D instead,” said Finn Fernandez.
In addition, Terrace is bringing back writers John Bailey Owen and Zach Marcus, who worked alongside her during the production of “The Owl House.” Although there isn’t a set date for the release of “Knights of Guinevere,” the pilot is expected to premiere in late 2025.
