The Color Guard at Eleanor Roosevelt High School is a beloved part of the school’s community, adding a splash of artistry and excitement to every performance. Known for their striking visual displays, the Color Guard combines dance, flag twirling, and choreographed movement to bring school events to life. From pep rallies to halftime shows, their presence is always a highlight.
Annie Liang, a junior at Eleanor Roosevelt High School and a dedicated member of the Color Guard, shared her thoughts on what makes the team special. “Color Guard is so much more than just performing with flags and props,”
Liang added on to her previous statement, “It’s about teamwork, dedication, and expressing ourselves through movement. We spend hours practicing our routines to make sure everything is in sync, and the feeling of nailing a performance in front of a cheering crowd is unbeatable. It’s a huge confidence boost.”
Yi Zhang, another junior at ERHS who recently joined the Color Guard, echoed similar feelings about the group’s spirit and unity. “I joined because I love dancing, but Color Guard has given me so much more. It’s a place where I’ve made some of my closest friends, and where I’ve learned to push myself physically and creatively,” she explained.
Zhang continues, “We’re always trying out new things, whether it’s a different style of music or a challenging new routine. There’s a real sense of accomplishment when we see all our hard work pay off during a big performance.”
Eleanor Roosevelt’s Color Guard isn’t just about performing—it’s about building a community. The members support each other both on and off the field, creating bonds that go beyond their routines.
As Yi Zhang puts it, “We’re like a family, and every practice is a chance to grow closer and get better together.”
With a busy year of performances ahead, the Color Guard at Eleanor Roosevelt High School is ready to keep dazzling audiences, one routine at a time.
