Golf is a strategic sport many people don’t necessarily think about, but the Roosevelt girls’ golf team had a pretty good season. This girls golf season was coached by Coach Scott Morgan and Coach Nicole Boyce.
Golf is a sport where a player uses a club to hit a golf ball in a hole. The main objective of golf is to take the fewest amount of strokes to sink or put the ball into the hole. generally competitive golf matches are played 18 holes but when playing against different schools it’s only nine holes.
The player that completes the entire course with the fewest amount of shots wins.
Golf is based on the top six people during the game only take the top five scores and find the average to compare to the other school’s team average. Isn’t it crazy how getting lower points is how you win?
The Roosevelt golf team has only lost a total of three games this golf season. The Golf team went against Martin Luther King on September 12, Santiago on September 14, Centennial on September 19, Norco on September 21, and Corona on September 26, They played these schools two times.
ERHS Freshman Claire Lee shared her thoughts about her first varsity golf season.
“My season went pretty good as my first year on varsity, and being top six was a pretty big accomplishment and I made many friends and I will miss my seniors,” Lee said.
Another Eleanor Roosevelt senior, Lauren Grant-Timassy reflected on her season sharing her overall thoughts.
“So this is my last year in varsity because I’m a senior, but I think it was a pretty good season to end my high school golf career at.”
CIF, held at Bear Valley golf course located in Victorville, resulted in our Lady Mustangs coming in fifth out of the 20 schools in Division three.
