Mental health awareness was on Tuesday, October 24th, in the quod area during both lunches, Many different booths were there to talk to you about mental health. All the booths gave great information.
Also, all the booths had games for you to win a prize, this attracted many students. Out of all the booths I went to, my favorite was the mobile crisis help of Riverside. They were definitely my favorite, the person I met in an interview said:
‘We are the mobile crisis helper we started this to give back to our community and we care for our people. “I started as a social worker and now I’m a therapist. This is my passion.”
My other interview was with Mrs. Gonzalez, I asked her what her favorite thing was about the hosted mental health day, and she said,
“my favorite was just seeing all the students out there doing this, really cool activities that help with mental health, things that help with stress, anxiety, and reducing mental health, that it’s okay to talk about, and we go through things and tough times and our mental health is important.”
This was a special thing that the clinics did for us. Every booth told us why they started this and why they like to help anybody in need. The booths were inspiring. I enjoyed seeing how many people were there during first lunch to learn about mental health and its seriousness, or even if people were there just for the games and to win prizes. Mental health is important because so many people have trouble controlling it, they might hurt themselves and not know how to get help. Thank you for reading my story about mental health, take care!! 🙂 Here are some pictures I took of the booths during first lunch.
