The Los Angeles Major league baseball team the Dodgers has the second biggest stadium in baseball and is said to become the biggest by 2025. Most games have an average attendance of over 47,000 people. It is one thing to hear how big it is, but being there truly is an out-of-park experience.
With a stadium so large you could imagine that there are many positives and negatives that come with it. The great amount of people who attended the games brings an electric atmosphere. On the downside it also brings a ton of traffic not only entering and exiting the games but in surrounding areas like the neighborhoods. Parking fees are another added layer of frustration for some, after paying for a ticket and waiting for what could be hours to get into the stadium you also have to pay an additional fee just to park.
Even with the negatives many still love going to the games. Many fans said that their favorite part of going to the games is the sense of community with having so many people who share a common interest coming together. And getting to experience such diversity among fans and food options at the games. Many others enjoy the tradition of going to the games with family and enjoying the classic food at the stadium such as the dodger dog along with a whole variety of foods. Yet some may argue that the stadium food isn’t worth the price.
Dodgers stadium also has traditions of their own, like bobble-head give away. Where fans who attend the game that night get a free bobble-head souvenir. Another loved event at the games is the after the Friday night game they put on a firework show or sometimes a drone show. The stadium also has some unique traditions like everyone standing up for the 7th inning stretch, or the stadium wave.
Highlighting the unique differences each game holds, one long time fan Zach Gaines said “At the last game I attended the wave made six back to back rotations before finally dying down, it was the most times I’ve seen at any game.”
Another fan Adnan Atwan said ” My favorite part of the games is the excitement from all the fans, going to the games brings me back to watching the games at home with my family.”
Many historical baseball events have also taken place at Dodgers stadium. One of the most recent events being Dodgers player Shohei Ohtani became the first player in MLB history to hit 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in a single season.
A few fun facts are the first game ever played at the stadium the dodgers lost. In 1963 there was a 165 foot tall ski jump built in the right field. Not only does the Stadium host baseball games but other events like concerts. Some big artists have played here like Elton John and the Beetles. In 1993 they held a premiere screening of the movie “The Sandlot”.
Overall, the dodgers stadium is a fun family-friendly venue where you can go to enjoy many different kinds of events such as baseball and concerts, and make many memories.
