Brother Vs. Brother In The Super Bowl LVII!

Brothers Jason Kelce (left) and Travis Kelce (right), make history by being the first two siblings to ever compete in the Super Bowl LVII. In just 10 days on February 12, the two brothers will compete for the championship.

How do Jason and Travis feel about competing against each other? In an article on the website people.com, which was published on February 1, it explains that Travis Kelce stated, “It’s wild and kind of surreal.” He continued with “I feel like I’ve been getting asked this question for my entire career. ‘What would you feel if you played with your brother in the Super Bowl?’ The entire time I’ve been like, ‘That’s been the goal.’ Now that it’s actually happening, it’s kind of sick.”

In the same article, Jason Kelce added, “Did we think it was going to be both of us? I don’t know. I thought it could happen, but I never fully anticipated it would happen until last week. I was like, ‘Man, this could really happen. We could really have a New Heights Kelce Bowl, and we could actually be doing this.”

Jason’s and Travis’s mom, Donna Kelce, has always supported the two playing sports. On the website si.com, it states, “Donna Kelce watched her boys play every sport imaginable. Jason led both of them into lacrosse, hockey, baseball, basketball, and of course, football, the sport that connects them all, even now. Especially now.”

On the same website si.com, it also explains how Donna didn’t allow either of them to play until seventh grade, since she worried they weren’t organized enough. When they reached seventh grade, they both immediately chased football. They starred in college at Cincinnati and they both made the NFL.

There’s one main question that the internet has been asking Donna Kelce. What is that one main question you may ask? Well, the question is:

As you can see in the image on the right, Donna Kelce made a perfect solution by combining the two uniforms together. In an interview on Today, she got asked “So, for which team will you be rooting for?” She responded with, “The offense.” Since both of them play that position. As she was further pressed, Donna admitted that she would have a tough time picking a team to root for.

But if she had to make a pick, she joked that there was one factor that would make it easier for her to root for the Eagles. She said, “I think that Jason would say that I’m going to root for the baby of the family, which is Travis, and I keep trying to tell him, ‘No, you’ve given me grandchildren.’ So, we’ll leave it at that.”

When asked his thoughts about the brothers facing off, Rei Ku responded with, “Honestly I think that’s really interesting, like league of legends worlds earlier last year, where the players faker and deft actually had history with each other, debuting around the same year in their e-sports careers and having gone to the same high school, making the advertising around the finals feel intense.” He continued with, “The fact that both brothers got to make it to the NFL, signed onto different teams, and now compete against each other for the first time in history feels like such a rare, story-like situation that even without interest in football, I feel somewhat drawn to how this turns out!”

Jyn Liu provided a different perspective, sharing that, “I do have a brother and I guess there’s something about how rivalry can easily go from playful dynamics to an actual argument… because of how you are siblings and you grow up together and know each other.”

Liu continued, adding, “I guess an actual rift and reason to be competitive or jealous of whoever wins on this sort of scale is probably bigger, and could cause a crack in their relationship. But also it could do pretty much nothing at the same time.”

To be honest, I’ve never been quite a huge fan of sports at all, but as I’m writing this, I’m interested in watching the Super Bowl LVII just to see how this turns out. Will you be watching the Super Bowl LVII on February 12? Let me know!
