WandaVision Episode 9 Breakdown

Spoiler Warning!

Wanda Vision Screencap

Wanda, Vision, Billy, and Tommy

Cayden Fisher, Journalist

We’ve finally made it to the season finale!

The episode starts where we were left off last week, with Agatha still holding the twins hostage. Wanda starts blasting Agatha with her magic which is exactly what Agatha wanted so she can absorb Wanda’s magic. Wanda and Agatha battle more, Wanda then throws a car at Agatha crushing her into a house, when Wanda checks on the damage she caused there are only boots under the car, referring to the Wizard of Oz famous “witch under the house” bit.

White Vision shows up trying to eliminate Wanda, in the comics this version of Vision had no feelings or emotions so that’s why his voice sounded so robotic and had no hesitation in hurting Wanda. Agatha shows back up saying how awkward it is that her ex and new boyfriend showed up to the party really filling in her villainy roll and comic relief.

We find out what Monica was up to, being trapped inside Agatha’s house with fake Pietro whose real name is Ralph Bohner which was Agatha’s “husband” all along, but really was just a resident of WestView and no connection to the X-Men universe. Debunking the Multiverse theories as he just happened to look like their QuickSilver.

Vision and White Vision start having their fight scene using their powers we’ve seen from previous movies such as flying and super strength. Vision tells White Vision that he isn’t truly Vision but memories being put into a physical form.

The theoretical problem of the Ship of Theseus is then brought up between the 2 Visions to further solidify Vision’s reasonings, making White Vision question whether an object that has had all of its components replaced remains fundamentally the same object. The Hex Vision is basically not Vision since he was completely replaced from the ground up and the White Vision says he doesn’t have the mind stone so he’s not the real Vision, but they’re both Vision because they think they are Vision which makes the White Vision stop his mission and fly away.

Fan of the MCU, Kyle states, “we most likely will see Vision come back in future movies.”

Back in the center of the town, Agatha starts turning the people against Wanda by releasing the Hex spell from them, it’s all part of Agatha’s plan to make Wanda feel as bad as possible so Wanda would give her powers to her. We learn that Agatha’s book is the Darkhold from the comics that is an ancient book of spells and unspeakable power, the book is made of dark matter from the Hell Dimension. Agatha tells Wanda that there’s an entire chapter devoted to her in the Darkhold, also stating that her power exceeds that of the Sorcerer Supreme, aka Doctor Strange.

Avid watcher of the show, Chelle states, “Wanda is by far the most powerful Avenger.”

Agatha then tricks Wanda to take down the Hex because she was hurting the people there but in doing so Vision and the Twins start to disappear, but she puts the Hex back up just in time for the S.W.O.R.D agents showing up. The family has a big stand off against the S.W.O.R.D agents just like in the first Avengers movie where the camera spins around them standing in a circle.

They make a Wiccan and Speed comic book reference when Vision says we didn’t really train you for this and then Wanda says but you were born for it.

Chelle comments on this scene saying “the scene gave me the Incredibles movie vibe.”

The twins then started using their powers taking out the S.W.O.R.D agents. Hayward then unloads a whole gun round trying to kill the twins but Monica comes over using her body as protection without knowing her powers would stop the bullets since her body is made up of light, she’s able to neutralize the bullets. Agatha then starts to attack Wanda, she throws up a shield but Agatha uses that to try draining Wanda of her powers to then us seeing her hands turn black like Agatha’s coven in the flashbacks. The more Agatha convinces Wanda to use her powers the more she can take from her. Just before Agatha is about to attack again Wanda uses her trick on her as she did to everyone in Age of Ultron. She takes it back to where Agatha’s coven is going to kill her but she flips it onto Wanda causing the undead coven to turn on her.

They break out of the Vision they start fighting in the air. Wanda starts giving Agatha her magic as well as hitting the walls of the Hex. Just as Agatha is about to open up on Wanda, we see the ruins on the walls just like in episode 8. She then reverses the spell and sucks all the magic out of Agatha and chaos magic. She then gets her new costume and pays off the mind stone scene of Wanda seeing herself in the future when everything lights up around her.

Wanda’s new costume

Wanda then turns Agatha to who she was playing in the Hex as the nosey neighbor and traps her like that until she releases her. WestView goes back to normal all but Agatha who will now be trapped there, Wanda says no one will hurt her here.

Agatha tells her she’s going to need her because she just released something bigger, Wanda replies that she’ll know where to find her. Wanda, Vision, and the twins go home as the Hex slowly comes down. Wanda puts the twins to bed and tells them thank you for letting me be your mother. Wanda turns off the light, but Vision turns it back on so he could see her one last time referencing him coming back. She explains how she created Vision, “you are a piece of the mind stone that lives in me. You are a body of wires and blood and bone that I created. You are my sadness and my hope, but mostly you’re my love.”

The rest of the Hex comes down and she’s wearing exactly where she was when she created the reality. As she walks into town, you can see the fear of the people, but luckily Wanda has a nice moment with Monica, with Monica saying if she had her power, she would bring her mom back. She changes to her comic book costume and flies off.

Jimmy Woo shows up with backup to arrest Hayward who Darcy trapped by driving her van right into his Humvee. A mystery agent brings Monica into the movie theater, the agent reveals herself to be a scroll and tells Monica that Nick Fury wants to meet her and points up to where the S.W.O.R.D space station is. In the final post credit scene we find Wanda in the mountains in her sweats, the camera pans over to her in astral form using the Darkhold, we then hear Billy and Tommy call out for her possibly from another dimension.

Kyle stated, “It was disappointing that we didn’t see Doctor Strange show up but we will 100% see Wanda return in Doctor Strange 2 from everything she did.” All in all I think the show was good, definitely expected too much but it was a good show all together.
