Details on How The Trump Administration is Dealing With Covid-19 Pandemic
March 13, 2020
There are at least 1,267 cases of Covid-19 in the United States, according to state and local health agencies and the U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The U.S death toll is now at 38, after another patient died in Washington state. The U.S State Department raised the worldwide travel advisory to level 3 on Wednesday night; meaning citizens should reconsider travel abroad.
Right now, health officials are scrambling to contain the spread of Covid-19 and to prepare for an anticipated spike in patients and deaths.
President Trump said “we will be suspending all travel from Europe to the United States for the next 30 days” before adding that there will be “exemptions for Americans who have undergone appropriate screenings.” These new travel restrictions apply to all U.S legal permanent residents. The travel restrictions Trump is enacting seem similar to those enacted on China.
The U.S government proclamation intiating the ban targets 26 European countries that comprise a visa-free travel zone known as the Schengen Area. The United Kingdom, Ireland, Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania are not part of the Schengen Area. Residents of the 26 Schengen Area countries are free to live and work in the United Kingdom, but only if they haven’t spent time the within the Schengen countries in the last 14 days.
“The Trump Administration’s plan for enacting the travel ban can possibly keep out Covid-19 from spreading more the United States. As long as the Health Officials are checking the U.S residents from the European countries before they come back home; we shouldn’t have to worry more about any contamination.”
Are you taking any precautions against Covid-19?
“Right now, I’m just making sure no one gets close to me when they cough. If I see them cough then I’m turning the other way.”
“This coronavirus pandemic has gotten out of hands. The media makes this pandemic look worse than it actually is.”
What are you thoughts about Trump’s travel ban on the European countries?
Honestly, I don’t think Trump’s Travel ban will make a difference. The virus is already in the United States. For all we know those american citizens could already be infected.”
