The Photograph

For all those lovebirds out there the Photograph is the movie for you! The Photograph came out in theaters on February 14, which is Valentines Day. It would make a great date night movie for couples and it was a great watch for me and my friends. We went as a group on Valentines Day and it was a fantastic way to spend our night. The Photograph is a movie about a Journalist who finds interest in a photo that has a story behind it. He originally goes to interview a hurricane survivor and the guy shares a story about a girl in a photograph from sometime ago. He finds interest in the story and finds the daughter of the woman in the photograph. The daughter, Mae, and the journalist, Michael, fall in love as they do research on the story. The hurricane survivor turns out to be Mae’s biological father. The two lovebirds find hardships when Michael gets a job in London and Mae was reluctant to continue their relationship. Michael goes to London and Mae flies out there and surprises him with concert tickets. They end the movie with them confessing their love for each other and saying that they will work out the long distant relationship.
I interviewed a few people who watched the movie. Dion Whitehead, a parent of a student here on campus, said, “The fact that it was a black love story drew me to watch it. I thought it was an excellent movie for me and my wife to watch together.” The movie was a great watch because there aren’t many black love stories, which is what also drew my friends and I to watch it. Whitehead also said “The movie definitely met my expectations because it showed how love can come unexpected. I loved the ending and how they overcame their obstacle.” I also love how they were able to have their happily ever after.
I also interviewed Stevee Silva, a senior here at Roosevelt. She said “My friends wanted to go see it and they thought the actor was very cute.” I do agree that Lakeith, The actor who played Michael, was very attractive. She also said ” The ending wasn’t good and I felt like they could’ve kept it going a little more into their future.” I completely understand what she is saying because the movie did a little abruptly.
Overall, I really enjoyed this movie and would recommend it to everyone. It was really cute and I loved the actors in it.
