ERHS Varsity Wrestling Update
January 16, 2020
As Winter sports are in the middle of the season and soon coming to an end, the ERHS wrestling team has been working hard and showing their tenacity all season on the mats. With numerous tournaments and a CIF championship in reach, the Eleanor Roosevelt High School wrestling team has been practicing all week, consisting of rigorous conditioning, technique and a lot of sweat and determination.
When asking Isiah Vasquez, a senior and varsity team captain, what’s been a highlight so far this season, he replies, “Climbing the state rankings…” was one of the many great accomplishments this wrestling season.
Furthermore, when asking David Saenz, a varsity wrestler, on how the varsity boys’ wrestling team has been doing so far into the season, he states, “We’ve been doing good, we’re ranked 20th in the state and hope to continue to do better.” Moreover, Vasquez also agrees and states, “We’ve been doing pretty good, a few injuries here and there but we bounce back.”
Moreover, when asking Vasquez and Saenz on how they’re doing individually during this season, Vasquez states that he’s been doing well and is now ranked 17th in the states and 1st in CIF and Saenz is also doing well with his record of 19-2.
This season the Eleanor Roosevelt varsity wrestling team has been flourishing in state rankings and has placed and won multiple tournaments. Moreover, with being undefeated in the league so far, the Eleanor Roosevelt wrestling team is hoping to not only get first in the league, but carry over their hard work and determination to CIF in hopes of winning a CIF title. With deliberate practice and perseverance, it has been an impressive and immensely successful season for the Eleanor Roosevelt High School wrestling team and may we wish them good luck and hope for them to continue to work hard and finish their season strong.
