Mustangs Basketball Season Begins
November 8, 2019
Hey Mustangs! As we all know, our ERHS boys’ basketball season is going to begin very soon. Our Boys Basketball has always been a standout program here on our Eleanor Roosevelt campus. Our Basketball program is always hungry and ready to compete for that league title. Varsity Boys Basketball is kicking off their season by playing in the Colony High School Showcase on Saturday, November 30 at 5 p.m. JV Boys Basketball is playing at home against Etiwanda High School on Friday, November 22 at 4:45 p.m.
I asked ERHS Varsity players, Devon Benefield and Bowdrie Moore, what are they most excited for for the new season and what have they done as a team to prepare for this year’s season. Benefield responded, “I am most excited about redeeming our basketball program from last year because we got knocked out in the first round so just being able to go further in the playoffs would be my goal. We have done a lot of conditioning in order to prepare for this season. Past seasons we weren’t successful running the floor but this year we will be able to run the whole game and when it comes to the 4th quarter, we will be able to pressure the ball and not be tired.”
Moore also said, “I am most excited for the competition and the adrenaline we get to have as a team. We have been doing so much to prepare. We’ve been running, working out, resting our bodies, preparing our minds and just bringing the energy and the bond together so we can all go out and execute strong.”
I also asked them how they are expecting this season to go compared to other seasons. Benefield replied, “I’m expecting to win CIF this year. It’s my last year so I’m going to go all out for our program and we have a very athletic team with two knock down shooters so I expect to win CIF for sure.” Moore answered, “This season I am expecting to win league and get far into the post season because we have guys that are hungry for a ring so our goal is to win league, then get the ring!”
Make sure all of you Mustangs come and support all of our Boys’ Basketball teams for the new upcoming 2019-2020 season!
