Finally. After waiting for so long Naughty Dog has released a new trailer revealing more information and details on the squeal for The Last of Us. It’s been seven years since the first game came out on the PlayStation 3 in June 2013, and later released in 2014 on the PlayStation 4. The Last of Us 2 was first announced by Naughty Dog at PlayStation Experience in 2016 alongside a teaser trailer but it wasn’t until September 2019 that we were finally told the game’s release date during a State of Play livestream.  Squeal for The Last of Us will be released on the PlayStation 4 on February 21, 2020.

We’ve confirmed that three main characters Ellie, Joel, and his younger brother Tommy will return in the squeal; with Ellie taking up the main role of the story just as she did in the first game.

The gameplay sequence gives us a look at Ellie fighting for her life in the wild. Success in a fight appears to require the right balance between stealth and all out attack as damage seems to have a more realistic impact. Ellie can move quietly between areas, taking weapons from bodies and crafting, before bursting out and taking down her enemies. It’s a different creature in many ways to the original The Last of Us but it looks like something to look forward to, with more advanced enemies to challenge us and more complex gameplay to thrill us.

WHAT IS THE LAST OF US ABOUT

The Last of Us takes place in a post-apocalyptic world in the year 2033; 20 years after the zombie fungal infection spread through the United States. 60% of the world’s population became infected  from the zombie virus. The infection caused an pandemic throughout the United Stated in mater of days during the viruses first appearance in 2013. The situation later forced the U.S Government to jettison the the bureaucrats in power and the establishment of civilian government. shortly after the country was under control by homeland security and the military, and cities across the nation are placed under martial law one by one. Survivors of the pandemic are assigned to designated quarantine zones that are supposed to separate them from the infected and keep them safe.

Sometime within the twenty years leading up to the main events of the game, a paramilitary group calling themselves the Fireflies were established, with their main goal being the restoration of lawful government in the United States, as well as finding and producing a vaccine for the Cordyceps Brain Infection. The Fireflies attack the military on occasion and encourage uprisings.
