Met Gala 2019
May 10, 2019
The annual Met Gala never fails to disappoint in killer fashion and deadly looks. Celebrities from all around attend the event and spend hours upon hours getting ready for one of the biggest nights in fashion.
The paparazzi are lined up behind floral barriers to give the celebrities as much space as possible, as a typical theme in women’s dresses at the Met Gala is to have the longest train possible.
Celebrities model all of the top fashion designer’s pieces, such as Gucci worn by Harry Styles, Tommy Hilfiger worn by Zendaya, Saint Laurent worn by Zoë Kravitz, Dior worn by Tom Brady, Gisele Bündchen, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, Luis Vuitton worn by Indya Moore, and Versace worn by Kylie Jenner.
All the stops were pulled out, especially by the legend herself, Lady Gaga, who had not one, not two, but four outfit changes as she made her 16-minute entrance into the venue. Shocking people in a bold and bright hot pink dress that revealed a black gown underneath. Next came her hot pink skin-tight dress, followed by a stripped and scandalous black burlesque-like outfit.
Many of the men wore elegant suits tailored to perfection, also from a variety of fabrics and prints. Some suits, like that of Harry Styles, showed off a playful, yet sophisticated appeal with sheer sleeves. On the other hand, suits like that of Liam Hemsworth and Shawn Mendes were more refined, as they chose to wear simple black suits.
Many of the gowns worn were blindingly bedazzled or made from full tulle and shear material. There was no color that was often repeated with the gowns, allowing each outfit to shine on it’s own, either with a numerous combination and mix of colors, or a more simple approach with a single color.
I interviewed Vanessa Castellanos, ERHS junior, on her thoughts about the annual Met Gala.
