Tragedy Hits Sri Lanka

A brutal attack took place in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday when countless churches were targeted and bombed, killing multiple people. The suicide bombings had taken place in Sri Lanka at St. Sebastian’s Church in Negombo, in Colombo luxury hotels were destroyed and the church of St. Anthony’s shrine, In Dehiwala- Mount Lavinia a hotel in front of the Dehiwala Zoo was attacked, and in Batticaloa, a bomb tore through the evangelical Zion Church.
The total death count has been released by the ministry where a total of 253 individuals lost their lives in this deadly attack. “Some of the bodies get severely damaged in these kinds of explosions and its possible for some bodies to get completely destroyed or break into parts, making the identification of full bodies difficult” claims the ministry of Sri Lanka. They also stated how “Counting an exact death toll is challenging”. The Sri Lankan government has been cracking down on their investigation into the Easter Sunday bombings. Since the event, there has been seventy suspects that have been taken into custody, officers have raided five safe houses across the country, along with search operations taking way across the country and around the capital. This tragedy has impacted the lives of many and caused severe damage and distress.
