Sandy Hook Victims’ Father Dies from Apparent Suicide

On December 14th, 2012, twenty children and six adults were tragically killed in a shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary. 20 year old shooter, Adam Lanza arrived at the school at 9:30 in the morning and began to take the lives of teachers and children in the halls and classes of the elementary school. Lanza first murdered Principal Dawn Hochsprung and school phycologist Mary Sherlach, while injuring Vice Principal Natalie Hammond. He then went into the classroom of a substitute teacher Lauren Rousseau and killed her along with her teachers aid, and 14 other children. Next he entered the classroom of Victoria Soto, where he killed Soto, her aid, and six other children just before committing suicide in that same classroom.
Student Avielle Richman, who was just six years old, was one of the children who was tragically murdered. Her father Jeremy Richman, 49, was dedicated to helping prevent mass shootings after the fateful loss of his daughter.
Richman recently and unfortunately ended his life in his Connecticut office building Monday morning, March 25, 2019.
After his daughters tragic death, Richman dedicated his life as being a force for change. He co-founded The Avielle Foundation, which calls attention to mental heath issues through research and community engagement. “The Avielle Foundation’s mission is two-sided. On the one side we have research. We are funding neuroscience research aimed at understanding the brain’s chemistry, structure, and circuits that lead to violence and compassion.” The foundation site claims.
