How to Make Yourself Happy: My Struggle With Finding Happiness
March 14, 2019
Knowing how to make yourself happy comes down to knowing what causes you to feel the way you do. When you understand what makes you happy in the first place, you can use that knowledge to continue to feel happy. Instead of trying to find happiness as if it is something outside of you, you need to search for it within. I believe that controlling your thoughts is a big part of finding happiness. Being able to turn negative thoughts into positive ones can really help you find what makes you happy.
I have struggled with finding my happiness for a long time. I have always let the little things get to me, and always think about others before I think about myself. One big reason I believe I let things get to me is because I am insecure about myself, and this is where you need to turn those negative thoughts into positive ones. Being able to activate your feelings and be aware of what is going on around you is very important in finding your happiness. I have read many self help books, which has helped me over come my many insecurities and become more confident and most of all, very happy. If you are unhappy, address the issue and find something that makes you happy. Being aware of your unhappiness can benefit you in finding peace with yourself.
Focusing on what you have and being grateful for it is very beneficial to long term happiness. I struggle with seeing this, because I only focus on the thing I don’t have instead of do have. Believing in yourself and confidence is key to being a happy person especially when you have very low self esteem. Another way to be happy is to remove negative and toxic people from your life, and to move on with any burdens you might have. Moving on and letting go can result in happiness. Forgiving others is also very important when finding happiness because it allows you to be open and honest with your feelings. Forgiving yourself is also very beneficial because it helps you heal and find happiness. I have learned that being happy is found within and takes time to find it. I went around and asked people how they believe happiness is found. Haley Pyne, a senior said “I think happiness is found when you focus on yourself and get away from negative people.”
