MLS Season Begins: LAFC’s Home Opener
March 8, 2019
The MLS Season is here! And with it, comes new teams and attitudes from the players. New teams include FC Cincinnati who played the Seattle Sounders away. The result was 4-1 with the Seattle Sounders coming away with the victory. Another big story is the team, LAFC who last season were new to the league and started out as being unstoppable. They had a huge opening night last year when they faced the Seattle Sounders in a tough match. The result was a 1-0 victory over Seattle from a free kick by LAFC’s Ciman in the 92 minute. This year, their will was tested with opponents Sporting KC. The beginning minutes were slow but in the 16 minute Foward Krisztlan Nemeth scored for Sporting putting them in the lead. The Second Half was more intense because of LAFC’s Diego Rossi scoring in the 47 minute. Many yellow cards were given Sporting KC and eventually it lead to a red card to Roger Espinoza. Losing Espinoza helped LAFC gain momentum on Sporting KC’s defense. Eventually in a close end to the game, LAFC’s Diomande scored into the bottom right of the net. The (3252) were really happy as “Dio” hopped into the crowd to celebrate with them. The final score was 2-1. Ghassan Abdulhadi, a Junior at Roosevelt was in support of LAFC and said,” I love how they play and the fans are fantastic!” He also talked about how this home opener was important. He stated,” This game is going to be really crucial to LAFC’s success and their power as a club.” LAFC’s next match is against Portland Timbler who tied against Colorado 3-3. They are looking to defeat LAFC and get on top of the the league. Tune in Sunday, to watch LAFC vs. Portland @4:30 live at Banc of California.
