As most may know, the live action remake of Aladdin is coming to the big screens, and Disney recently released the teaser trailer for its upcoming feature film. While fans and critics have responded to it’s release with praise and comments, one of the popular topics of discussion regarding the trailer is their portrayal of the Genie, played by Will Smith.

Pictures from the set, reveal that the Genie will take two forms, from the classic blue form as many know, and then a human form,  which will be adorned in jewelry.

From what’s shown so far, the film looks visually stunning, as many people grew up watching Disney movies, and seeing them in live action seems to be a different experience.

Fernando Gonzalez, a junior attending ERHS, said that “I think the movie looks like it’s going to be good, from the visuals I’ve seen so far. Maybe one of the best of the year.”

As it can be easy to be excited to see how it’s adapted to the live action approach. It can feel either upsetting from today’s logistics, if any problem is seen, but that shouldn’t discourage those who’ve watched the animated version.

Fernando Gonzales  continues by stating that “I’m just excited to watch it because I watched it when I was a kid, one of my favorites from my childhood, and I would like to see how it comes out.”

As Disney’s live action adaptations have been successful in recent years, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Aladdin to come out as a success, but it may have an equal chance of being a box office fail.

To fans of the animated film, this seems to be a good representation of the film, and to anyone that hasn’t seen it before, it could be an exciting experience!
