ERHS Theater Cast Lists Released!

Megan LeBlanc, Writer

Hey Mustangs! Hope you had a great 4 day weekend! This past weekend some exciting events happened in our Roosevelt theatre department. Last Friday the cast list for The Lion King Jr. was posted on social media. A long with a couple of weeks ago, the footloose cast list was posted as well. We went around campus congratulating some cast members and asking them what they thought of being in the new cast and what role they play and what they are excited for. Here are some responses:

Senior Amy Olsen got casted in the musical Footloose and this is what she is excited about this year and what the process has been like so far:

“I am going to be playing Vi Moore (Ariel’s mom) in Footloose and I am thrilled to be performing such a complex character. I think what I’m going to look forward to the most is bonding with my cast members cause I’m getting to work with a lot of new faces, it’s going to be a lot of fun. The audition process was very enjoyable. We had dancing and singing auditions for both shows, later I got callbacks for footloose and callbacks were just as fun. We sang songs that Mrs. Frost sent to us and read some lines from our character and overall it was a great process.”

Another Senior Roy Barragan gave us some insight about his character and the process as well:

“I am playing a character named Travis in the show and was also casted as ensemble and I’m very excited about this role because my character is not too big of a role, so I will be doing ensemble activities as well as having a role. I mostly look forward to learning new things because every time I do a show here, I feel like there’s so much I learn about myself, the show, other people, etc. Also, the audition process for this show, in my experience, was very good. I love auditioning for shows at this school because you really challenge yourself and giving it your all feels amazing and I met a lot of new people who were also auditioning for the show.”

Lastly, Senior Dally Dudley gave us info about her process and excitement as well:

“I am going to be playing Wendy jo, she’s one of the 3 girl friends. I’m super excited about the 3 part harmonies in the girls songs and I’m excited to work with other girls so closely to make our harmonies tight and our friendship in the show genuine and fun. I look forward to getting to know everyone in the cast because there are a lot of new people to theatre and to the show. I’m also super excited for all the fun dance numbers. The audition process was less nerve racking than usual for me because I didn’t go in wanting a specific role, since this show is such a fun ensemble show, I wasn’t really gibbing for any specific character, but seeing all the talent from each person at auditions definitely added some competition. I’m very content with my role and I’m looking forward to putting this show together.”
