Roosevelt Vs. Centennial Basketball Game Recap
January 18, 2019
This Tuesday, January 14, our ERHS Mustangs boys basketball took on their rivals, the Centennial Huskies in their sixth game of league play. Although our Mustangs lost 71-65, they put up a great fight, and their loss didn’t affect them for their following game on Thursday, January 18 against the Corona Panthers. Our Mustangs took down the panthers 64-37.
We asked Coree Joseph, a senior on the team, and Ryan Victorio a junior on the team, how the loss to Centennial motivated them for the rest of the season, and how they were able to defeat Corona considering the loss from earlier in the week.
Coree Joseph: “It showed us how much harder we have to work and how much more we need to improve. We came with a chip on our shoulders from the loss and came with the intensity we have to carry throughout the rest of the season”
Ryan Victorio: “We came out Thursday against Corona with a chip on our shoulder and motivation to finish 8-1 before we meet Centennial again at our house. We were able to contain Corona’s best players and slow them down with our defense. With our defense, it led to our offense and we were able to make runs and stretch the lead to get the win.”
