Being Thankful
November 17, 2018
Around the this time of year, we take a break from school and work, to spend time with those you care about. We say that we’re thankful for spending time with them, but what does it mean to be thankful?
If you take a look in the mirror, getting ready to go to school, the store, or even to go out with friends, there is always something you can say you are thankful for. The clothes on your back, the bed you sleep in, and the roof over your head. If you take a look outside, there can be a lot you overlook, the neighbors that surround you and the friends you make. It’s always good to take a moment, breathe in the fresh air, take a look at the world that surrounds you, and enjoy the moments you spend out there.
Take a look at the people around you, take the time to remember anything they have done for you, whether it be something small like giving you a dollar, or sticking by you through your hardest of times. Remember how important they are to you, and thank them for being around.
You could easily say that you’re thankful for you phone, video games, jewelry, or any item that can easily be replaced, but take the time to realize where it came from, not the store, out of the kindness from the person who gifted it to you.
As we near the end of the year, it’s important to show how thankful you are for the people who’ve stuck by you through thick and thin, the ones who seem to never give up on you, even when you seem hopeless. I think it would mean the world to them if you, the reader, go out and hold those closest to you, and tell them how thankful you are for them.
Asking Jocelyn Llamas, a student at Norco College, she had this to say, “Thankful means accepting whatever happens to you, it’s embracing whatever comes your way without needing to complain about it or anything.” adding on, “I am thankful for my friends, they have all accepted me the way I am and they are always there to help me through whatever I’m going through.”
So take this time, and ask yourself, What are you thankful for? I thank you for taking the time for reading. Have a very Happy Thanksgiving Mustangs!
