November 11, 191  was the day, of World War 1 which  left a huge impact on our country.  With 4,700,000 men and women serving in uniform and 116,516 deaths, we are all honoring each and every one of the troops that served on behalf of the citizens of the United States.

For everything we have to thank for our honorable soldiers, there are many events being held to celebrate those who are still alive who fought in the war and for those who gave up their lives for our country.

One event is A Silent Night: A World War 1 Memorial In Song. This is a performance between vocalist, John Brancy and pianist, Peter Dugan. This performance is scheduled to perform those songs that were changed by WW1 in the greatest ways. There is free admission but you would have to reserve a seat to experience the tribute brought through music.

Another event Remembering World War 1. This day long commemoration shows the impact WW1 made on the globe today.  You could also find rarely seen objects out of storage, lightning talks, temporary exhibits, uniformed re-enactors, hands-on activities, movies, and an 11:00 a.m. ceremony marking the moment the guns fell silent. This rememberance event is free and open to the public.

Veterans Day Film Festival is going to be going on as well, showing creative films exploring the lives of soldiers and their families in WW1. You could view for free from November 10-11.

Words of appreciation:

” I think the men and women that fought in WW1 are very courageous and strong for risking their lives to protect our country. It’s crazy that it is going to be 100 years since the war came to an end!   I would like to also thank the troops that are fighting for our country . I have family who has served in the military and I know what it is like to miss family for that long. ” -Megan Leblanc
