Homemade Bomb Sent to Major Figures in America

Cher Wang, Writer

On Tuesday, October 23, there was a major shakeup in the media. Our previous president of the United States, Barack Obama, was sent a live bomb along with the CNN building and former secretary of state, Hilary Clinton. According to the Washington Post, on that Tuesday night, the secret service was doing standard mail screenings and found a pipe bomb covered in bubble wrap. This was found in similar mail addressing Clinton and Barack Obama.

But luckily, none of the mail had gotten to its recipient and the police had deciphered that the pipe bomb was a live explosive so it occurred whenever the host wanted to blow it up. The police are continuing investigating similar mail that has been sent and they don’t know how many people the culprit is targeting but so far, major political figures such as Rep. Maxine Waters, the district office of Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and the mail room of CNN New York Headquarters have been found to be addressed.

And for more information about the pipe bombs, the New York Times also put on a clip of how the pipe bomb mailed to CNN and addressed to the ex-C.I.A director, John Brennan, was assumed to be that “may not be capable of detonating” after the police had investigated the device. They had said that the bomb was a live explosive but no more information could be found further because it is an ongoing investigation. The police had said that the pipe bomb was made up of cheap products put together like a digital timer, with two caps at the end of the bomb.  And what you cannot see is the taped part on the side of the bomb where the ISIS logo and John Brennan were put side to side as an insult towards Brennan.

Schultz issued a statement in which CNN took record of in replying what the culprit had sent her but had been intercepted by the police:

–“We will not be intimidated by this attempted act of violence. This appalling attack on our democracy must be vigorously prosecuted, and I am deeply disturbed by the way my name was used. Today, my staff and I will hug each other and our loved ones tightly, and tomorrow get back to work serving the people I was elected to represent.”

And so, the police will continue their search on similar mail and try to find some clues of the culprit while the major political figures will brave on and continue their work to serve the people.
