Aladdin Remake

With Disney’s numerous animated movie successes, they have now taken the liberty of remaking them into live action films. The next big movie to hit the big screens is “Aladdin”; set to be released on  May 24th of 2019. Casting Mena Massoud as the title character, Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine, Marwan Kenzari as  Jafar, and Will Smith as the Genie, the film is anticipated to be a hit as directed by Guy Ritchie.

Recently on October 11th, Disney released a teaser trailer in anticipation of the film; however, the trailer just shows a small snippet of the main character interacting with the magical lamp that holds the all powerful genie. With stunning visuals, and a very magical story to bring to the big screen, we can only wait and see if this remake lives up to Disney’s previous live action remakes.

Navid Negahban, who plays the Sultan, says the film will “honor and respect” the culture of Aladdin’s setting and characters.

Quoted from an interview at BBC. Negahban speaks on behalf of the writers and director Guy Ritchie when he states that“ They’re really trying to stay as truthful as possible to the story, and at the same time, honour and respect the culture and the background of each of the characters.” “In addition to that, Ritchie also wants it to be entertaining and incorporate his own sense of humour.”

With this in mind, we’ll have to wait and see how the film plays out. Let’s hope that it’s an amazing adaptation of Aladdin.
