For a short history of the sport, the volleyball federation was founded in 1947 with the first world championship for women being held in 1952. The sport’s come a long way since then, being internationally appreciated and played by millions of boys and girls throughout the world.

As for our school, The ERHS freshman girls volleyball team is working hard this season to improve upon their skills and abilities. In addition to that, one of their main focuses this system is directed towards uplifting one another and keeping the atmosphere upbeat. Team member supports this statement as she says, “We all listen to music and think positive to hype each other up.”

By keeping a close knit team, the girls are hoping to pull ahead in the ranks of the surrounding teams. “When we went to a tournament in Whittier, we played really well as a team and all helped each other out.”

The team uses inspirational quotes to keep up team morality such as, “Think smarter not harder” and “play for your team not your self”.The girls not only use their team work abilities on the court but also in their everyday lives, helping each other work through their problems. Although the girls just began their high school careers, they’re looking forward to more years to come as a team playing the sport they love.
