Start Learning a New Language in Just Three Weeks
October 19, 2018
Babbel Magazine recently came out with an app that helps people learn a new language in just three weeks! Researchers at the City University of New York and the University of South Carolina looked into the efficiency of using the app and if it truly works or not.
The experiment consisted of 391 individuals, who were chosen at random, and evaluated while they used the app to learn their preferred language: Spanish.
Babble reports that, “users with no knowledge of Spanish, need on average 15 hours of study in a two-month period to cover the requirements for one college semester of Spanish.”
Babble also reports that the app is universal. Anyone regardless of ethnicity or economical background can use the app, for it works similarly for everyone’s differences.
The feedback the app received was positive, stating that “95% of users surveyed said Babbel is ‘easy-to-use’ and ‘helpful.’”
Susie White, native Spanish speaker, talks about the app and says, “It sounds very appealing for basic communication.
To really put their app to the test, Babbel even challenged their employees to learn Spanish during the three week trial and they were successful. Though they were not experts, they achieved an above average level of learning and
could have “basic conversations,” which could allow them to converse with others and have an intelligent conversation where both parties can understand one another.
The app also offers plenty of options regarding the different types of languages you want to learn. Such as: Spanish, Italian, French, German, Russian, Dutch and many more.
The app is available to download for free in the app store.
