Election Day 2016

November 9, 2016

It’s official America, Trump is our President Elect of the United States.

Just before the polls closed, Hillary Clinton lead with 48%, Donald Trump just behind her with 44%according to BBC News. After polls had closed in 27 states, Clinton had received 104 electoral votes while Trump lead with 140.  As the election came to a close it became apparent that Trump had flipped six states, that have historically voted blue. (Democratic) Those states are Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Iowa. This surprising change of events lead to Donald Trump reaching 288 electoral votes, which resulted in him winning the 2016 Presidential Election. Although, Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by over one million people.

As for legislative and executive branches, Republicans run it all — a first since 1928.
