Star Wars’ Lando Calrissian: Pansexual

May 18, 2018

We met Lando Calrissian in Empire Strikes Back – he’s a smuggler, gambler, and card player who we first see as Baron Administrator of Cloud City. We know him as the previous owner of the Millennium Falcon before losing it to Han Solo in a game of sabacc.

In a recent interview with the new film “Solo” screenwriter Jonathan Kasdan, he asked if Lando Calrissian was pansexual he replied,

“I would say yes.”

One who is pansexual doesn’t limit themselves by biological sex, gender or gender identity. Fans have always seen Lando as an extremely laid back and cool guy. The suspicion of his sexuality was questioned by fans from a comment made by Lando’s female droid, L3-37, in the new Han Solo movie “Solo”:

“I’m sure you noticed that Lando has feelings for me.”

Fans going off of this idea of pansexuality have used the scene of young Lando played by Donald Glover telling Han to “might want to buckle up, baby,” in “Solo” to support their theories. In the interview Kasdan added Lando “doesn’t make any hard and fast rules” and he “think[s] it’s fun. [He doesn’t] know where it will go.”

Despite the screenwriters confirmation and the fan theories on screen there is nothing romantic between him and the droid.
