Barbara Bush Dies at 92

This past Tuesday, news came that former First Lady Barbara Bush, wife of 41st U.S. President George H.W Bush and mother of 43rd U.S. President George W. Bush, passed away. Her death comes after she chose not to continue receiving treatment for her unspecified illnesses.

A statement was released by George H.W. Bush on the death of his wife in which he remarked: “I always knew Barbara was the most beloved woman in the world, and in fact I used to tease her that I had a complex about that fact,” Bush said in the statement. “But the truth is the outpouring of love and friendship being directed at The Enforcer is lifting us all up. We have faith she is in heaven, and we know life will go on — as she would have it. So cross the Bushes off your worry list.”

Barbara Bush was best known for her literacy organizations during her time as First Lady. As a result, She created the Barbara Bush Foundation of Family Literacy that encourages literacy in the U.S. She had also advocated for foreign born immigrant families to having the ability to learn together.

For her work in the White House, she was very in tune with the White House Historical Association, which she then renamed into the White House Endowment Trust.

When the Bushes lived in the White House,  it was announced that Barbara Bush was diagnosed with Grave’s Disease. Later on she would live until her 92nd year.

Bush has been know for her care and love for others she will be deeply remembered in history.

College student Joel Martinez shares his opinion on Barbara Bush’s Death, “I think it’s a terrible thing that she had died but I realized that she had lived a well and successful life. Despite her political stance she had believed in the idea of privacy and education for humanity.”
