Did you watch The Emmy Awards?

“The Prime Time Emmy Awards” is a popular awards show for movies, television shows and other surfacing media. This year was “The 70th Prime Time Emmy Awards” and aired on Monday at 5 p.m.

Hosted by Colin Jost and Michael Che, the event was held at the Microsoft Theater, in Los Angeles, Calif. The event was also televised on NBC Network.

I interviewed Janelle Mejia, who is a junior here at ERHS and I asked her if she watched the Emmys and she said no, but she knew what the Emmys were, saying, “The Emmys is an award show for television shows, right?”

During the awards show, according to CNN, “Both HBO and Netflix picked up 23 Emmys this year.” For the past 16 years, HBO has been the number one Emmy award winning television network. So this was the first time in 16 years that HBO did not win the most Emmys! For those of you that watch Game of Thrones, according to CNN, “Game of Thrones’ just took home the award for outstanding drama series.”

“The Emmy Awards” also recognized the people involved in and hurt by Hurricane Florence. If you do not know, Hurricane Florence is occurring down in the South, in the eastern parts of the United States, more specifically in the Carolinas. During the show, the hosts encouraged viewers to donate to groups like the American Red Cross to help the people suffering.

Overall, the Emmy Awards sounded like it was great and the viewers had a good time watching.
