May the Fourth be with You: Star Wars Day

 

May 4th has been unofficially claimed national Star Wars by many Star Wars fans. On this day “May the 4th be with you” is said by fans originating from the iconic phrase, “May the force be with you.” This is a day for fans to celebrate their love for the movies and how much it has impacted their lives.

On this special day you saw fans dressed in their Star Wars gear and costumes all expressing their love for this amazing saga. Star Wars has been an ever long part of society since the release of New Hope 41 years ago.

In 2011 the first May the 4th official event took place in Toronto Underground Cinema, where there was screenings of the movies along with costume contests and TV and Radio Stars.

From the popularity of “May the fourth be with you,” May 5th soon was given the name, “Revenge of the 5th,” by the more Empirical fans out there. On this day fans remember there precious Lord Vader and hope for a day the galaxy will see the power in the dark side of the force.

All in all, these days will forever hold a special day in fans hearts. Watching the original trilogy brings people back to their childhood and as it continues will shape the children of today.
